Ms. Anjali Singh, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, delivers a highly inspiring LEAD Lecture session at the ASB Orientation Programme 2020!

Asian School of Business – which is a part of Asian Education Group and is ranked as one of the best undergraduate B-schools in Delhi NCR –  welcomed its new batch of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) by launching a grand week-long Orientation Programme scheduled from Monday, 19th October 2020 to Saturday, 31st October 2020. In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and keeping in mind the social distancing norms, this programme was however organized virtually to benefit the students who were about to begin a new phase in their academic life.

At the ASB Orientation 2020, Ms. Anjali Singh, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank was an Eminent Guest who delivered a highly inspiring LEAD Lecture session on Wednesday, 21st October 2020 as part of the week-long Asian School of Business BBA & BCA Orientation Programme 2020.

Having more than 25 years’ experience in financial services across many roles in Operations, Relationship Management, HR & Training, Strategy and PnL Management, Ms. Anjali Singh has worked with a broad range of Global clients primarily in the Banking and Financial Services domain.

An achiever, a fighter, a believer, a woman of action. A woman who has as some would say broken the proverbial glass ceiling to get to the top. A woman who has never let go of her grit, determination, and resilience to get to her goals. What is more, she is a go-getter who doesn’t believe in just resting on laurels but in setting new goals, dreaming new dreams, and forging ahead. An inspiration, an aspiration; that’s how this woman achiever has been described. She is someone who believes that either one should work with energy and passion or not at all. Ms. Anjali Singh, currently the Managing Director, Deutsche Bank is a woman to be admired and applauded.  She has more than 25 years of work experience, mainly in the Financial Services sector. She has worked with big names like American Express, FIS, and Genpact carrying out multiple roles in Business, Operations, People Function, and Strategy with aplomb.

In her LEAD Lecture delivered on Wednesday, 21st October 2020 at Asian School of Business, Ms. Anjali Singh spoke majorly about her own life experiences on the path of her numerous achievements that turned out to be just too inspiring for all participated in the session.

She began her talk by recapitulating her career beginnings at American Express (where she spent about 8 years) and went on to relate her developing of interest in financial services and the BPO wave during the period of 1998-2000 that led her to switch over to FIS. When asked by her father as to why she was leaving a 9 to 5 job and joining a company that would need her even in night shifts, she replied that she felt like this is the next thing that is going to drive the industry and therefore offer a great opportunity. She then spoke about how she spent her 4 years at FIS and even won the Chairman’s Award for top performance there. But, her quest for new learnings continued to possess her and she went on to work for several organizations including Genpact across many roles in Operations, Relationship Management, HR & Training, Strategy and PnL Management but primarily in the Banking and Financial Services domain.

Taking a pause here, this outstanding woman achiever shared some important learnings in her life. She said, “It is important to grow horizontally because it is from there that the vertical growth comes. It is also important to get one’s skill set wider because thereby the growth will be easier. So keep reinventing yourself. Keep doing different things. You cannot move up without skills. Don’t believe in luck, believe in grace. Keep doing good things. Keep working hard. A little bit of risk-taking is not bad. At each of the company, I learned something different and nothing was pushing me out. Keep that learning mindset, as going through your career that’s what is going to make you succeed. Remember, nobody knows all of it. The more the learning mindset, the more you are going to be future-ready.”

Another important thing that she advised the students was to “Be Boundary-Less”. “Worry less about the promotion, think more about the exposure. Have the ability to move up and be strategic and have the ability to roll up your sleeves and get into the details.”

Her concluding golden last words of advice to students was, “Do what you are good at and what you are very passionate about. Whatever you want to stand up and do, you should be absolutely passionate about it. And, don’t do the job in which you are not passionate about!”
