Asian School of Business organized a spirited Live Interactive WEBINAR on ‘The Entrepreneurial Journey of Wow! Momo’ by its Co-Founder & CEO, Mr. Sagar Daryani – for all BBA & BCA students and aspirants on Friday, 29th May 2020 at 4:00 pm. As it developed, the WEBINAR became a spring of great inspiration for all BBA & BCA students and aspirants with entrepreneurial dreams!
Mr. Sagar Daryani is a very successful entrepreneur with a deeply imbibed understanding of brand building. He dreams of an India with 100% employment. Under his capable leadership Wow! Momo has earned many awards & accolades including National Entrepreneurship Award 2016 from the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and The Images Most Admired Indian Origin Quick Service Restaurant Chain of the Year 2018. Starting with a humble beginning of a small kiosk in Kolkata, today the brand has made inroads in all the metros and major cities.
An initiative of Asian Education Group (AEG) – considered as the largest centre for professional media, IT, law, management, fashion & hospitality education in Asia with world-class facilities – this WEBINAR was jointly organized by Asian School of Business (ASB) ) – which is a constituent group college of Asian Education Group and is ranked as the top private BBA/BCA colleges in Delhi NCR – for all BBA & BCA students. Since this WEBINAR was a closed session, students were required to register for the same. The WEBINAR was followed by a lively Q&A Session with the distinguished guest.
The webinar session started with the dynamic, young, hugely successful entrepreneur, Mr. Sagar Daryani thanking the ASB team for inviting him for this session. Acknowledging the onslaught of the Coronavirus pandemic that has brought in some very tough times for all humanity across the world, the distinguished young achiever disclosed one of his key mantra for success – viz., “When things become tough, don’t stop moving. Fight along, for it is the fighter that always wins!”
The dynamic, young Co-Founder & CEO of India’s 1st major chain of Branded Momos, Mr. Sagar Daryani then traced the outstanding entrepreneurial journey of his ‘Wow! Momo’ from a humble beginning in Kolkatta in the year 2008 with just Rs 30,000/- and 1 kiosk to a current corporate worth of Rs 860 crores with 345 stores spread in 16 cities across India. He narrated all the details of his struggle and the sheer hard work he put in to create and establish a unique brand of his food product largely by way of product innovations, replete with all the nitty-gritties of brand identity & brand value, the pangs of raising of funds for business expansion, and the joy of building of a great team of 2700 people. He said that his journey was dotted with challenges all through and, by the grace of God, he never saw losses until this April 2020, that too mainly because of the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic.
Sharing his thoughts on the current health crisis, Mr. Sagar Daryani once again repeated his faith in the dictum that tough times calls for diversity, resilience and innovation and described how during this difficult times when food joints and restaurants were hard hit, he had come out with a novel idea of teaming up with co-market players like Zomato to create and operate a vertical called ‘Wow! Momo Essential Services’ as the grocery arm of Wow! Momo aimed at helping citizens with the supply of essentials as the lockdown to curb coronavirus continues in India.
Mr. Sagar Daryani then opened the session for questions from the students. A shower of questions related to his life, struggles and achievements were put up by the students to which the eminent speaker provided the most convincing answers.
Towards the end, in his message for the ASB students aspiring to fulfill their entrepreneurial ambitions, the distinguished guest said, “Follow your dreams, be passionate about them but don’t let it remain just an idea. Take it to the next level of execution. Be in the game, Be the change that you want to see in others. And, just jump into action towards fulfilling your ambitions.”
