He has 39 years of experience in human resource covering IR, Recruitment, Training, Remuneration, Policy, Operations, Divestment, cross-cultural workforce and HR Shared Services. He has a Degree in Commerce, an MBA in HR, a Post Graduate Degree in Law and a Post Graduate Diploma in Training and Development. He was awarded PhD in April 2012.
He has held senior positions in both operational and strategic HR, including, start-ups, acquisition, mergers and re-structuring. Having worked with Unilever PLC in India and Kenya, and with Motorola as Executive Director HR looking after Asia Pacific HR for Software business and HR for the India Sub continent. He also has worked with Shell Malaysia as HR Director and MD for Shell People Services Asia Sdn Bhd. His last assignment was with IBM India where he worked as Executive Director HR for Global Delivery business. He was a part of growing the business from 14k employees to 47k employees in four and a half years. He now has started his own consulting firm ‘aquil busrai consulting’ offering 1) Executive Coaching 2) HR Strategy and 3) Leadership Development and Training.
Having lived in Kenya, Malaysia and India, he worked in 15 Asia Pacific countries, he is familiar with cultural, legal and operational issues of most Asian and African countries.
