Objective: The industrial visit to Ministry of Electronics & IT was organized with the aim of providing students with understanding of e-Development of India as the engine for transition into a developed nation and an empowered society. The visit aimed to enhance student’s understanding about MeitY functioning to promote e-Governance for empowering citizens, promoting the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT & ITeS industries, enhancing India’s role in Internet Governance, adopting a multipronged approach that includes development of human resources, promoting R&D and innovation, enhancing efficiency through digital services and ensuring a secure cyber space.
Introduction: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology , a renowned goverenment organization, welcomed our group of students for an educational tour to their office. MeitY main objectives are e-Government, e-Industry, e-Innovation / R&D, e-Learning, e-Security, e-Inclusion, Internet Governance.
Overview of Visit:
Introduction to MeitY: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), an agency of the government of India, provides policy guidelines to all government and state public sector organizations. Its guidelines are also frequently adopted by private sector organizations in regulated industries, like financial services and telecommunications.
Functioning of Organisation: Large number of initiatives have been undertaken by various state government and central ministries to make an era of e-Government. Sustained efforts have been made at multiple levels to improve the delivery of public services and simplify the process of accessing them. The national e-Governance Plan (NeGP), takes a holistic view of e-Governance initiatives across the country, integrating them into a collective vision. (NeGP) is Comprised of 27 Mission Mode Projects and 8 components. Organization personnel also described all the nine pillars of e-Governance in detail, through a presentation, including Broadband Highways, Universal Access to Mobile connectivity, Public Internet Access Program, e-Governance and e-Services, information for All, IT for Jobs, Early harvest programs and Digitally Empowered Citizens. They shown how e-Governance portals works through a demo and how they created a common website to their members for the transaction of information.
Conclusion: The visit to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was truly informative for the students and improved their knowledge about importance of E-Governance, E- Commerce, E- Medicine, E- Infrastructure, IT based Education. Student’s professional growth will definitely improve by getting the insights from the organization’s people.
