On August 31, 2024, the Asian School of Business (ASB) hosted its 13th Convocation Ceremony at the AEG campus, marking an important milestone for graduates. The event commenced with a student procession, followed by an academic procession featuring distinguished guests. Event was graced with the glorious presence of our esteemed guest of honor Shri Ramnath Kovind, 14th President of India, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of the Asian Education Group (AEG), Mr. Akshay Marwah, Chairman of AEG, Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director of AEG, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Director of AEG, and Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina, Director, Deans, Heads of Departments, and faculty members.
The ceremony officially began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom. Each dignitary was warmly greeted with bouquets and mementos before being introduced to the audience. Mr. Akshay Marwah declared the convocation ceremony open, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.
Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Director of AEG, delivered a welcome address, followed by Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava’s detailed academic report. The esteemed guest of honor, Shri Ramnath Kovind, the 14th President of India, then took the stage and delivered an inspiring and heartfelt address to the graduates. Drawing from his years of public service and leadership, he spoke about the transformative power of education and how it equips individuals to face the challenges of an ever-evolving world. Shri Kovind encouraged the graduates to be the architects of their own success by upholding values like integrity, dedication, and perseverance. He emphasized that their responsibility goes beyond personal achievements, urging them to contribute to the nation’s progress and uplift society with their skills and knowledge. His speech resonated deeply, as he reminded the graduates that, as educated citizens of India, they have a vital role in shaping the future and serving the greater good. Dr. Shweta Batra, Dean of Examinations at ASB, led the students in an oath-taking ceremony, instilling a sense of responsibility and pride.
Awards, diplomas, and medals were bestowed upon the graduates, celebrating their academic achievements and dedication, adding a sense of pride to the ceremony. The top achievers received special recognition with awards and medals, highlighting their exceptional performance. Additionally, the Distinguished Faculty Award was presented to honor the faculty’s significant contributions to the academic community, making the event even more memorable for both students and educators. Tamana Kotwala from the BBA program (2020-2023) and Shreya Arora from the BCA program (2020-2023) were honored with gold medals for their outstanding academic achievements. Dr. Maroof Ahmed Mir, Dean of ASB, was honored with the “Distinguished Faculty Award 2024” for his profound impact on student growth and learning.
The event also witnessed the release of a special book titled Accomplishments, authored by Dr Sandeep Marwah. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of several dignitaries, including H.E. Dr. Ali Achoui, Ambassador of Algeria 🇩🇿; H.E. Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of Rwanda 🇷🇼; H.E. Mustapha Jawara, High Commissioner of Gambia 🇬🇲; Cdr. K. L. Ganju, Honorary Consul General of Comoros 🇰🇲; Lazar Vukadinovic, Deputy Head of the Mission, Embassy of Serbia 🇷🇸; and H.E. Capaya Rodriguez Gonzalez, Ambassador of Venezuela 🇻🇪. Their presence added prestige to the occasion, making it a truly memorable and distinguished event.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of AEG, delivered a powerful speech that energized the audience, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and vision in achieving future success. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina, Director of AEG, who acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the event and expressed appreciation to the guests and families in attendance.
The day concluded with joyous celebrations as graduates posed for photographs with their diplomas and certificates in hand, their faces beaming with pride. Reflecting on their time at ASB, many were moved to tears, but the overwhelming feeling was one of happiness and accomplishment as they left with memories and a sense of achievement.
