Model United Nations (MUN) Conference

Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the most popular programs to know and learn about the functioning of the United Nations. Throughout the globe, thousands of educational institutes, both at school and college level, organize several conferences wherein students engage in debates which resemble the way it takes place at the United Nations. Asian School of Business, duly recognizing the significance of the same, too conducts the MUN on an annual basis. The students who participate in it get a nearly firsthand experience about the functioning of the United Nations.

This year ASB’s Gnosis club organised the 4th edition of MUN on 23rd October 2024. The delegates of three committees UNHRC, UNCSW and UNODC locked horns and deliberated upon the set agendas. The agenda for UNHRC was Racism and Related Forms of Intolerance, for UNCSW it was Security of Women amid Middle East Crisis while the delegates of UNODC deliberated upon the agenda of Impact of Legalizations of Drugs. The event started with the opening ceremony wherein the President, Chief Advisor, Advisor, Director General, Deputy Director General, Charge De affairs, and Secretary General addressed the delegates and impressed upon the significance of this event. With secretary general declaring the MUN 4.0 open, the event started with General Assembly, followed by the unmoderated caucus, and later moderated caucus. After all the power packed sessions, committees drafted the resolutions which were passed by majority votes.

During the closing ceremony, delegates were awarded with different honours and commendations. Shubham Roy from BBA-Batch 2023 was awarded the best delegate in UNHRC committee, while as Snehil Singh Rajput and Tanishka Singh, both from BBA-Batch 2023, were awarded High Commendation I and High Commendation II respectively. In the UNCSW committee, Ishant Gaur from BBA-Batch 2022 was awarded as the best delegate, while as Prashant Negi and Mohd Adnan, both from BBA-batch 2022 were awarded High Commendation I and High Commendation II, respectively.
