On the splendid morning of 28th March 2025, the students of Asian School of Business embarked on an insightful industrial visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt Ltd, Sonipat — a pioneer and global leader in the probiotic beverage industry. This meticulously planned visit aimed to acquaint students with the real-world dynamics of food processing, stringent quality control mechanisms, and the intricacies of supply chain operations in the fast-evolving probiotic sector.
The visit commenced with a cordial welcome by the hospitable Yakult team, setting a warm and professional tone for the day. The students were then guided on a comprehensive tour of the world-class manufacturing facility, under the expert supervision of Ms. Deepika from the Quality Control Department. With clarity and precision, she elaborated on each stage of production — including fermentation, formulation, bottling, packaging, and cold storage — while emphasizing the cutting-edge technologies, exceptional hygiene protocols, and rigorous quality assurance procedures that uphold the brand’s commitment to excellence and consumer health.
Following the factory walkthrough, an enlightening presentation session was conducted, which offered a panoramic view of Yakult’s illustrious legacy, tracing its origin in Japan to its esteemed global presence across over 40 nations. The session highlighted the scientific foundations and health benefits of the flagship product, spotlighting the role of Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota in fostering digestive wellness. Students were also introduced to the innovative marketing and distribution strategies adopted by Yakult in India, including retail outreach, door-to-door delivery, and targeted promotional campaigns.
One of the most engaging segments of the day was an interactive Q&A session, skillfully led by Mr. Shagun, who addressed a wide spectrum of student queries related to Yakult’s business model, R&D initiatives, consumer insights, and its vision for future expansion. His articulate and insightful responses added immense value to the students’ understanding of the real-time challenges and opportunities in the functional beverage market.
The visit culminated in a group photograph, a visual memento of a day filled with discovery and learning. As a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, the students presented a sapling and a memento to the Yakult team, symbolizing gratitude and a shared commitment to sustainability and growth.
In essence, this enriching educational expedition not only provided students with a tangible connection between classroom concepts and industry practices but also inspired them to think innovatively and analytically about emerging trends in health-focused consumer products.
