The Annual Convocation Ceremony of Noida-based, Asian School of Business (ASB) – which is a part of Asian Education Group (AEG) and is ranked as one of the top private BBA/BCA colleges in Delhi NCR – was held on Saturday, 27th April 2019 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath Road, New Delhi with due solemnity. In all, 26 students from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Program-2015-18 batch received their most coveted degree amidst all celebration and formalities.

The Chief Guests for the occasion were Dr. (Sh.) R. K. Somany, Chairman & Managing Director, HSIL Ltd. (Hindware); Sh. Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director, The New Indian Express Group; and Mr. Arvind Kapur, Founder-Director Chicago Pizza. Distinguished personalities like Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, Asian Education Group (AEG) and Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG); Mr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG); and Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) hosted the event on behalf of the Institute.

Shining bright in their ceremonial robes, the students came together one last time to celebrate the accomplishments over their two years of hard work and struggle.

The event began with the Academic Procession entering the Auditorium followed by the traditional Ganesh Vandana & Lightening of Lamp ceremony, after which the Convocation was Declared Open by Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG).

In his welcome address that followed, Mr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) congratulated the passing out students and said that the institute was happy and proud of them. While wishing those who had a clear career path before them from here, he lamented that very few students in India think of starting their own ventures and become an entrepreneur. He cited several examples of how the founder-owners of such modern-day successful organizations like Naukri.com, Flipkart, and Oyo Rooms followed their dreams and made it big for themselves. He further urged the students that in this world full of challenges, they should look at them and treat them more as opportunities through positive thoughts and actions. He also suggested them to treat the word “FAIL” as “First Attempt In Learning” and the word “NO” as “Next Opportunity” and not get disheartened in their lives. Moreover, he advised the students to cultivate the good habit of “Reading” which happens to be the common habit-trait among 88% of successful people around the world. He concluded by saying that above all, students must strive to strike a perfect balance between their health and family life as a matter of prime importance.

Disclosing the ‘Academic Report’, Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) highlighted the academic excellence achieved by the ASB BBA batch of 2015-18 and their great placements in top companies and brands across industries that has made the institute proud of its each and every student. He then motivated the students to introspect, work hard, and love themselves and do only the things that they loved to do, which would allow them to truly grow in life and help them achieve all their dreams.

This was followed by Convocation Oath from passing out batch rendered by Sh. Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director, The New Indian Express Group.

Addressing the august gathering, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President, Asian Education Group (AEG) enlivened the ambience with his inspiring speech laced with some stirring Hindi couplets and exhorted students to lead the “Real Life” by giving them the highly motivating “ABCDEFG Mantra of Success” wherein A stood for Attitude, B for Belief, C for Commitment, D for Discipline, E for Enthusiasm, F for Focus and G for Goal. He also asked them to have trust in their teachers and their parents and never to lose interest for the well-being of their country, India.

Delivering the convocation address, Dr. (Sh.) R. K. Somany, Chairman & Managing Director, HSIL Ltd. (Hindware), congratulated the students on their “well-deserved success that will define the bright future of our country.” He applauded their hard work and asked them to “never stop learning and exploring no matter what.” He also urged them to have a vision in life and be innovative in ideas and set new benchmarks of success by thinking in terms of start-ups and individual ventures.

The event then saw the giving away of medals to toppers and the award of BBA Degree to the students of BBA 2015 – 18 Batch.

Sh. Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director, The New Indian Express Group then addressed the gathering. He talked about Dr. Somany’s great achievements and how his inspirational life could be looked upon as a role model for any business student. He then reminded the students that today marked the beginning of their stepping into the world and asked them to reflect on the meaning of each of the clause of the convocation oath that they promised to follow. Speaking about his own journey in life so far, he deliberated upon the importance of having a vision & mission in life and told the students how he had pursued his own ambition of becoming a writer and a journalist with a single minded concentration and focus and even against all odds. He also spoke about developing a team and setting principles. He further cautioned the students to “never promise what you cannot deliver but always deliver more than what you promised.”

This was followed by an address by Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG) who began by congratulating the graduating students and wishing them all the best in their lives. In his interesting talk, he took the students into the annals of history and referred to the first reference of Convocation that was found in the Taittiriya Upanishad dating back to Vedic Age when the ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’ was in the way education was imparted and it was a day when the Shishya completed his education at the feet of their Gurus and sought their Blessings before going out into the wider world. “That,” he said, “was a great tradition that generated sacred thoughts and inspiration for the students and made them strong and ready to the face the world with confidence.” As part of this great country and its rich culture, he asked the students to remember this wonderful tradition and take it forward to the best of their abilities. Further, he advised the students that as they step into the world outside and continue on their jobs and careers, they should remember 8 Personal Excellence Keys to seek after, which he believed would make a big difference in their lives – namely, Integrity, Learn from Your Mistakes, Always Speak with A Good Purpose, Be Focused, Have Commitment, Take Ownership, Be Flexible, and Strike A Balance.

This was followed by the customary vote of thanks and the convocation being declared closed.

The event concluded by the singing of the national anthem with due respect.
