Handling Exam Pressure

College life is often portrayed as a time of freedom and self-discovery. Yet, behind the scenes, many students grapple with intense exam pressure that can take a serious toll on their mental health.

The pressure to perform well in exams stems from multiple sources: personal ambition, family expectations, competitive peers and the looming job market. For many students, academic grades are seen as the ultimate measure of success, creating a narrow and stressful definition of achievement.

This constant strain often leads to anxiety, sleepless nights and burnout. Some students resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms, while others withdraw socially, further isolating themselves. The fear of failure can overshadow learning itself, turning education into a race rather than a journey.

We at Asian School of Business recognize this issue and foster a healthy academic environment. We have a dedicated counselling team on campus to help students cope up with such issues. These counselling services promote a balanced lifestyle, and shift the student focus from academic grades to holistic learning, whereby making a significant difference in the lives of the students. Students, too, should be encouraged to seek help, prioritize their well-being and redefine success beyond the numbers on a transcript. There are continuous assessments in the classroom, which give students ample opportunity to get their desired scores.

Crafters or mentors are attached to every single student across their graduation, so as to ensure that students come out of their comfort zone and perform as per their abilities. The regular interaction of faculty mentors also helps identify students who may be feeling the heat of the exams and can then take corrective action.

Exams are important, but they should not come at the cost of a student’s mental and emotional health. A healthier approach to education can empower students to thrive, not just survive. And this is what we at Asian School of Business believe.
