Teaching Gen Z: What We Learn from Our Students Every Day

Teaching Gen Z is a learning experience in itself. At the Asian School of Business (ASB), we interact daily with a generation that is curious, confident, and constantly connected. They think differently, question deeply, and approach learning with creativity and openness. And as faculty, we often find that while we’re teaching them, they’re teaching us just as much.

Gen Z students thrive on engagement. They prefer conversations over lectures, collaboration over competition, and real-world relevance over rote learning. This has encouraged us to make our classrooms more interactive, digital, and experiential. We now integrate discussions, simulations, and technology-driven projects that allow students to apply their ideas in dynamic ways.

What’s truly inspiring is their sense of purpose. Today’s learners are not just chasing grades or job titles they’re motivated by impact. They care about social change, sustainability, and ethics. Their questions challenge us to keep our content updated and our perspectives fresh. They remind us that business education is not only about profit, but about responsibility.

Most of all, Gen Z has taught us the importance of adaptability. Their world evolves rapidly, and their ability to embrace change motivates us to innovate continuously. They push us to experiment, rethink our methods, and create learning environments that are flexible, inclusive, and future-focused.

At Asian School of Business, we don’t just prepare students for the world they prepare us to understand it better. Teaching Gen Z is a partnership in growth, where learning flows both ways.

And that, perhaps, is the most rewarding part of being an educator today.
