Artistic Tribute – Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti through Art 2.0

The event hosted by the Community Service Club in collaboration with the Gnosis club of the Asian School of Business (ASB) on October 1, 2024, was “Artistic Tribute – Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti through Art 2.0,” it was a vibrant celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s life and legacy, engaging students in various creative and intellectual competitions. The event combined art, public speaking, and knowledge-based challenges to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Gandhiji’s teachings.

The “Artistic Tribute – Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti Through Art 2.0” event paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless ideals of truth (Satya), non-violence (Ahimsa), and self-reliance (Swaraj). A key highlight of the event was the Gandhi Quiz Showdown, where participants engaged in fast-paced rounds, testing their knowledge of Gandhiji’s journey, from his pursuit of justice through non-violent resistance to his unwavering commitment to equality and unity.

Artistic expression took center stage in the Express through Art: Poster Making & Slogan Challenge, where students creatively depicted Gandhiji’s principles of simplicity, peace, and dignity through impactful posters and powerful slogans. These visual tributes were inspired by Gandhi ji’s call to “be the change you wish to see in the world”.

In the Speak Your Mind: Extempore competition, students articulated Gandhiji’s teachings with remarkable clarity and poise, reflecting on his message of self-discipline, courage, and social harmony.

Students gained valuable insights grounded in Gandhiji’s philosophy. They learned the power of non-violence and peaceful co-existence, realizing that true strength lies in compassion. The activities fostered an understanding of integrity and truthfulness, inspired by Gandhiji’s commitment to Satya (truth), and encouraged self-reliance and social responsibility, reflecting his ideals of Swaraj. Students also embraced the importance of simplicity and humility, and through critical thinking challenges, they enhanced their skills in articulation and reflection on Gandhiji’s teachings, empowering them to apply these timeless values in their lives.
