One of the attractive event activity at this festive celebration was the “Funk Out of Junk” competition.
This event activity was set in the backdrop of the ever increasing problem of generation of waste in our society, predominantly from households and industries, which we now require a very innovative approach to get rid of the same. This event was supposed to bring such ideas to the notice of students and help them to think on ways of recycling the waste material that will not only reduce the waste but provide them with useful household products as well.
Each team consisted of two members only and the participants were allowed 1 hour to show their creativity and 2 minutes to talk about the same. The required waste material and stationery like scissors, thread etc. had to be brought by the participants on their own. The waste material here could have been anything like tetra packs, used bottles, old newspapers, old utensils, jute material or any second-hand items. The students were cautioned that the material would be rejected if not found to be a waste product or second-hand item. They were also made to note that no ready or semi-finished model or matter would be accepted.
Participants were judged based on creativity, utilization of resources, artistic composition & design, eco-friendly rating, utility of the product and overall presentation.
The names of the winners for this event were Mili & Muskan from PGDAV College, New Delhi.
Here’s your share of the glimpses into that significant event activity.
