The Research and Development Cell (RDC) of Asian School of Business (ASB) successfully organized a two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Data Analysis and Research using RStudio” on 23rd and 24th June 2025. The program was designed to build practical competencies in statistical data analysis using RStudio, an open-source platform widely used for data science, analytics, and research. It was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participation both online and offline.
The sessions were conducted by Dr. Miklesh Prasad Yadav, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Kakinada. Dr. Yadav, with over 14 years of academic experience and more than 65 research publications in reputed journals, brought deep expertise in data analysis, quantitative techniques, and research writing. His engaging and hands-on teaching approach ensured that participants gained conceptual clarity and practical skills relevant to their academic work.
The FDP commenced on Day 1 with an introduction to RStudio, covering an overview of packages and their usage in research. This was followed by a hands-on workshop on descriptive analysis, normality testing, and graphical visualization, leading into inferential techniques such as t-tests and ANOVA. In the afternoon session, participants explored correlation analysis and linear regression, enabling them to understand and apply these techniques effectively.
On Day 2, the program advanced into more complex topics, beginning with multiple regression analysis, where the assumptions of regression models and the use of dummy variables were thoroughly explained. Participants also explored the creation of word clouds as a method of visual data exploration. The final session of the FDP focused on secondary data analysis techniques and offered detailed guidance on writing high-quality research papers, including tips on structuring, visualizing, and presenting analytical results in a publishable format.
Overall, the FDP was highly informative, interactive, and well-received by the participants. It equipped faculty members and researchers with both theoretical knowledge and applied skills in RStudio, empowering them to conduct more rigorous and data-driven research. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks and the distribution of Certificates of Completion to all attendees.
