The Community Service Club of the Asian School of Business (ASB), Noida, recently organized a successful collection drive as part of its ongoing social outreach program. The initiative aimed to gather essential items such as packed food, clothes, and household items, which were later donated to Goonj, a well-known non-governmental organization (NGO). This program not only encouraged students to actively participate in social service but also provided them with a unique opportunity to visit Goonj and gain deeper insights into the NGO’s operational framework and objectives.
During the visit, the Goonj team provided an overview of their working framework. Students were briefed on how the NGO collects materials from urban donors, schools, and corporations, and how these materials are then sorted, up-cycled, and distributed to rural communities. The visit highlighted Goonj’s approach to sustainable development and how seemingly simple contributions like clothing or household goods can make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.
The visit to Goonj was an eye-opening experience for the students of ASB, enhancing their understanding of sustainable development, resource management, and the importance of addressing basic needs in marginalized communities. The generous contributions from both students and the college were a testament to ASB’s dedication to making a positive impact in society. The Community Service Club of ASB successfully fostered a sense of social responsibility, encouraging students to actively engage with initiatives that contribute to the betterment of the world. The visit also served as an inspiration for them to think critically about how they, as future business leaders, can contribute to social causes and adopt sustainable, community-driven approaches in their professional lives.
