On 24th March, BCA VI Semester students went to visit DUCAT, a reputed IT training institute, for an industrial session on Cyber Security and Soft Skills. The visit was organized to expose the students to real-world exposure to the new cyber threats, ethical hacking methodologies, and defence techniques employed in real-time environments. The session was led by industry professionals, who imparted their expertise on the increasing importance of cybersecurity in the modern era.
The session began with an introduction to cybersecurity fundamentals, where students were briefed on the importance of securing data, networks, and systems from cyber threats. The trainers explained various types of cyberattacks, including phishing, ransomware, SQL injection attacks, and demonstrated how hackers exploit vulnerabilities. Penetration testing techniques and cryptographic methods were also discussed, allowing students to understand how security professionals identify and mitigate risks.
The highlight of the session was a study of real-world cyberattacks through case studies was also undertaken, in which the effects of security breaches on organizations and individuals were explained. The instructors also taught students about the significance of getting cybersecurity certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, which can boost their professional prospects in the field of cybersecurity. Various job opportunities were also discussed. A brief session on soft skills was also conducted focusing on communication skills, personality development and formal etiquettes.
At the conclusion of the session, students were subsequently issued certificates of participation, acknowledging their effort and commitment to the training followed by refreshments. The industrial visit to DUCAT was a valuable experience. It gave students a rich understanding of the world of cybersecurity, imparting them with knowledge and skills that will serve them well in their future IT security careers.
