Faculty Development Program on Transforming Teaching and Research

The Asian School of Business (ASB) joined hands with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to orchestrate a transformative and extensive five-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) from June 19th to 23rd, 2023. The central theme, “Transforming Teaching and Research,” encapsulated a rich tapestry of insights and expertise shared by distinguished speakers, rendering the event a cornerstone for advancing the understanding of fundamental aspects of education and research.

Dr. Maroof Ahmad Mir, a luminary in the field, spearheaded the FDP for the initial three days, immersing participants in the realm of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Dr. Mir’s sessions were more than a discourse; they were deep explorations into the significance of Bloom’s Taxonomy and its pragmatic application. Participants gained a profound understanding of how to integrate this taxonomy into crafting effective lesson plans, with Dr. Mir underscoring the pivotal role of OBE in not just refining teaching methodologies but also optimizing student learning outcomes. The first segment set a foundation marked by enlightenment and practical applicability.

The subsequent two days unfolded under the expert guidance of Dr. Abhay Jain, who steered the focus towards Research Methodology. Dr. Jain’s comprehensive coverage traversed critical facets of research aptitude, elucidating the intricacies of research execution and the diverse applications of research methods. What made these sessions particularly valuable was the emphasis on hands-on utilization of tools like Smart PLS and G Power, providing participants with practical insights into crafting effective research designs and conducting sophisticated analyses.

The FDP served as an invaluable platform for faculty members to not only augment their teaching methodologies but also to elevate their research acumen. ASB’s commitment to fostering continuous professional development remains unwavering, creating an environment that is not only conducive but also propitious for fostering innovative and impactful teaching and research practices. This collaborative initiative between ASB and IQAC stands as a testament to the shared dedication of advancing educational quality and championing excellence in both teaching and research within the academic realm.
