ASB students visited Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram (old age home), Gautampuri, New Delhi on September 18th, 2019 as per CSR Club Activity Calendar. Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram is the brain Child of SHOWS (Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphan Welfare Society) and is a “home away from home” for the abandoned elderly of our country.
The students organized a fundraiser, clothes collection drive and created handmade greeting cards with personal wishes. They also performed various cultural activities at the veune.
ASIANITIES distributed the clothes and greeting cards made for the inmates of Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “It was overwhelmingly obvious how happy and excited the inmates were on receiving the cards. They had stories to share with students, sad stories as to how they were abandoned by their own children whom they had raised. “Their hope that one day someone would come in search of them, is keeping them going,” explained one of the students Tawishi Thakur.
The students shared that it felt like more than a usual curriculum activity; it was an opportunity to penetrate into the unknown, hypocrite society and experience the unchartered territories. They narrated their various stories and mentioned that they were most concerned about making people happy.
